Recognition in a trio often is not distributed evenly, to the chagrin of many bands, but according to percussionist Matt Ruecker, this is not a problem.“There’s no competition in Inuit Jargon for limelight. We know how media and commoners perceive bands and that’s fine.” When asked to go into detail about this claim, Matt appeared bothered but acquiesced, “Let’s break it down. Shaun is the front man, and it’s difficult to deny his sex appeal to the ladies. We support him in his magazine cover crusade; if anything it only elevates our fame and deserved recognition. With Andrew, you’ve got a massively talented guitarist and someone who can talk to almost anyone about any kind of music, so his fame is so legitimate that nerds in record stores will still be talking about him twenty years from now. Even DJ Tanner has generated a buzz for channeling reckless lifestyle into chaotic yet cognitive beats and remixes.”
So Matt’s not an open book apparently. It seems as though Inuit Jargon’s elusive egg shaker has only once answered a question about his role in Inuit Jargon for the public starving for knowledge. “I’m the percussionist. I give my best effort on every track to offer structure, and ultimately fill up any empty noises with full noises. In the end though, it’s not so much I’m in Inuit Jargon as it is Inuit Jargon is in me. It’s in all of us, and that’s where it belongs.”
